My mom had a set of Christmas dishes before she downsized. I had the opportunity to claim them but didn't think they would be important to me. Until I started thinking about them this summer! Thankfully, my sister claimed them, and they are still in the family!
Over the last week, I've been thrift shopping to round out the gifts I'm giving. I can't share too much about what I bought at the thrift shop that day! I did find two lovely baskets to put gifts in for my children. Each of them is receiving a hamper of good things for one of their gifts, small wrapped presents that follow a theme for each person. I think this type of gift giving is fun, and each item is not expensive. I think they will be well received! In my thrifting, I also found an old encyclopedia which will make the most fun book crafts. I found a few gifts and present toppers, too!
The gift for me that day was dishes like Mom's. I couldn't leave them in the thrift shop! I found eight cups and saucers. I'll be on the lookout to round out my set with salad and dinner plates. As I've found, they're still being sold, but thrift shop prices are better!
Do you ever wonder why God loves us so much? I mean, Christmas dishes are not that important in the grand scheme of life. But God chose to gift me these dishes, simply because they were a want. I see it as His heavenly Fathering. spoiling His children with good things! If we look around at what we've been given by the Lord, it adds up to a string of displays of His love for us!
These dishes will remind me of Mom and Dad for years to come. My mother loves Christmas and will be delighted for me to have Christmas dishes like hers! My parents are such a treasure to me and my sister, another of the wonderful gifts from God!
I hope in this season of gifting that you're looking for the gifts from the Lord! Today I'm thankful for Christmas dishes, but also a full fridge and pantry along with good things for the stockings. I'm thankful that God provides what is needed and things we want as well! Start looking for God's many gifts to us!
