It is not often I meet anyone from Maine that actually lives here. I will see New Englanders passing through. Today, we went out to lunch while the kids were at the movies. We went to our favorite Thai eatery. It was crazy busy. One of the diners heard my accent and correctly knew I was from Maine. We grew up 40 miiles from each other. Patience is often rewarded. The owner gave us a sushi roll on the house because we waited over 20 minutes to be seated. That was an unexpected win.
We went to the City Market in Hotchkiss because vegetables are greatly reduced.I picked up basil plants, rosemary, mint, and thyme for 50 cents a piece. We were in to town. I stopped at the used book store and traded in a sevral pounds of books for store credit. We have 200 hundred in credit.
Kindle was offering 3 x the reward points. I was able to purchase 6 books I wanted with points had and gift cards.
I went to my painting class tonight and I was offered a free pilates and yogs class. I have been doing yoga and pilates for years, however, it is always good to have your poses checked by a professional. I needed a few adjustments.
I stopped in at at the consignment shops and collected 1000 dollars. This is from clothing, 3 quilts and jewelry that I made. Not bad money for inexpensive materials and a little bit of time. This money will be used for the children's education savings.
Everyone is enjoying their Stanley cups. They were a good deal for 14 dollars.
We went over our expected budget for the next year. Our biggest expenses are the rental and travel. We have made the decision to bank my income and to put our family business back into the business.
Maintaining your house appliances is one of the ways to save money over time. I clean the dishwasher, the air purifer, vacuums, ceiling fans, the washing machine, and dryer monthly. I steam our furniture monthly. The homemaker needs to tailor home cleaning and appliances to the climate they live. In New England, I was dealing with wet and in the high desert I am dealing with dryiness and dust.
