Our annual greeting
The accompanying graphic has been the blog's annual Christmas/holiday season greeting since 2011. It's a tradition and things wouldn't be the same without it.
There wasn't much cinema James Bond news in 2023. Barbara Broccoli, the boss of Eond Productions, said repeatedly not much had been done for Bond 26 (whenever it comes out).
There was more on the literary Bond front.
Ian Fleming Publications brought out a short book by Charlie Higson, On His Majesty's Secret Service. The timeshifted story tied into the coronation of King Charles III.
What's more, author Mark Edlitz came out with a book in December examining the Bond continuation stories that followed after Ian Fleming.
That book looked at Bond stories by the likes of Kingsley Amis, John Gardner, Raymond Benson, Anthony Horowitz and others.
The graphic used in this post was designed by Paul Baack (1957-2017). It's just one sample of his artistic handiwork. He designed it when the blog was part of the Her Majesty's Secret Servant website (1997-2014).
George Lazenby's Bond is the star of the graphic. Laz had a fall in his home in November. An image of the actor got out via Instagram, causing concerns among Bond fans. There was no official word for a time.
Finally, on Dec. 16, Lazenby's agent put out a post on X (formerly Twitter), that Laz was on the mend. Good news to hear.
To the blog's readers: Thanks for being here. If you've got some time off, enjoy it.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays, everyone.
