| Homemaking in the Dunes Dec 17 | On a visceral level, I am a very good good judge of character. As I get older, I have learned to listen to that gut instinct. Four years ago, we had a new neighbor move in. He came over with his wife when we were sititng on the front porch. I immediately disliked him. Immediately. I told my husband, "I don't want that man over here again". My husband wondered why and I told him it was a gut feeling. A year later, we saw in the paper he was not a very bad man. The human experience is complicated, people are not always completely good or bad. There are times, you will meet person who is truly rotten. Who someone is at 20, is not who they may be at 40, and so on. I do believe that some people can make profound choices beyond the sum of the their bad choices. People have a tendency to tell me all I need to know within a very short time. There is a succinct mapping that occurs in my thoughts when I hear a person tell and show me who they are.
