Daily writing prompt
When are you most happy?
My happiest moments are moments of action. The chores on the homestead. Those nights when we have goats and pigs birthing. The milking of goats and making cheese. Cracking eggs from our chickens preparing my family's breakfast. The preparation of meals from our stores for our family, I even enjoy the cleanup.
Homeschooling our children, watching them thrive in their classes. I am often asked why our children have it together by their instructors, it is simple, it the rythmn of our home. We teach them how to be responsible, to have empathy, to love learning among many other things through word and action.
I love when I hold my grandchild in the quiet of the dawn, I am transported back to the time I was a frightened, young single mother with nothing, I created a life out that fear. I stopped the pattern of generational maternal abandonment. I found joys and solaces in the depth of the night, so that I might enjoy holding my grandchildren.
I love the moments that I sit at my desk and write. The quietness of creating other worlds. This morning, I was reading my grandmother's journals that were given to me on my last trip to Maine. I have been writing a novel based on an event that has shaped the lives of the women in my family. I was reading the depth of her sorrows this morning.
I love the moments I have with my husband. We have fun no matter what. It helps that we both have a biting sense of humor dirtected at the world, not each other.
I am happy in my moments that I am praying the rosary. The mysteries of the rosary allows me to reflect on the scripture and Jesus's life. Praying through the decades, you reflect on the lives of Mary and Jesus.
I find happiness in the simpicility of life. Those people who come into our lives in our travels. The softness of the bed when you lie down for the night. The warmth of the sun in morning. The quiet lull of the night as our Christmas lights come on.
