He wakes up some time in the night,
Looks over to his right....
In her place
His lover's face,
He leans over for a squeeze....!
-
Blanket fluff touches his lips,
No face, no arms, no hips....
All mirage
Night time decoupage,
A falsified image this!
-
All alone in bed,
Images in his head....
His wife isn't there,
She stays elsewhere
In a nursing home bed.
-
Reassured he is alone,
He gets up with a groan....
Reboots his computer
To reconnoiter
The feelings of an empty home.

Jonathan Caswell
The author's wife has been in the nursing home for what-nearly 3 months now. After 34 years together, this separation, including much of the past 5 years off and on, takes some getting used to! The author thanks his readers for their forbearance with his frequent topics of choice!
