The weather continues to be cold. My dooryard is bare, however, an hour down the road, I went cross country skiing with my husband while the kids snowshoed. Colorado is ironic that way, dry down here in the dunes, and wet in the the mountains. We went to cut down the Christmas tree. We will put the tree on Sunday.
We are continuing to grow spinach and other winter greens. We are continuting to have excellent goat milk output and we had 8 dozen eggs this week from our chickens. I am using my hydoponic garden system in our garage to grow arugula, kale, Swiss chard, basil, thyme, mint, cherry tomatoes and sweet peppers. I experimented with this system last year.
The dinner in the Dunes was a savory beef ragout over polenta, asparagus, grilled grapefruit and home canned pears. The asparagus is frozen from our homestead. Dessert was nondairy icecream made from two ingredients from bananas and orange juice.
Patience is often rewarded. The jewelry I make and list on consignment hadn't sold for several weeks. The shop called me to let me know they had sold all of inventory. I have another 50 orders that have come in that need to be completed by December 15.
