#NewComicsday and it's a great day to be a comic book enthusiast! It's Marvels week to shine as the shelf is flooded with some solid choices. If you like the X-Men Blue story don't miss Uncanny Spider-Man #5 this week while Star Wars gives us some new Revelations. DC also giving us some great choices, with Monsters, trips off world, and some holiday cheer. While Image continues strong with Larry Hama in full command of GI Joe and a few issues nearing the end of their stories. Sponsored by All C's Collectibles who has items on sale for that hard to shop for collector, stop by today, but for now we've got five stacked high ready to fly:
GODS #3> Cassandra is cursed with knowing the future, but no one believes her. There are Black Swans in the bar. Oblivion wants to drink alone, but kids these days don't respect authority figures. Most of the ingredients are illegal outside of Hell's Kitchen. (S) Jonathan Hickman (A) Valerio Schiti
Smurfs Take> Well one thing for sure Hickman doesn't disappoint. I knew we would be instore for some new amazing ride and has delivered something way beyond that. New, exciting, and well written! Everything I've always asked for in a comic and at last someone heard me.
Creepshow #4> Attention, shoppers! Naughty NICK DRAGOTTA (EAST OF WEST) tells the gruesome story of a deadly wraith who punishes bad customers in "Killer Cart Corral."
Then, the abominable ALISA KWITNEY (Mystik U) teams up with the monstrous MAURICET(G.I.L.T.) to explore an aging witch's desperate attempt to hold on to her power in "The Amulet." (S) Alisa Kwitney, Nick Dragotta (A) Nick Dragotta, Mauricet
Smurfs Take> Who doesn't love a good holiday horror story? One of the best ones for me is still the hitchhiker in the Santa suit that gets hit by the car. This title has been perfect for me in so many ways and has lived up to the Creepshow legacy that I loved as a kid.
Incredible Hulk #7> HULK VERSUS THE WAR DEVILS! The Hulk and the undead Ghost Rider make amends, but Ghost Rider smells an evil in the air - and it's been terrorizing a small community. With Bruce's teenage sidekick, Charlie, determined to prove herself as a hero, Hulk must face them down before she gets herself into more trouble than she bargained for! (S) Phillip Kennedy Johnson (A) Nic Klein
Smurfs Take> Monsters, and more monsters….it's fantastic! Hulk more in control and with attitude is perfect and throw in some baddies to smash along the way is great. Still not sold on the new sidekick but enjoy Hulk using her to annoy and play off Banner has been entertaining. All and all solid direction, look forward to the title every month, yeah, I think we've got a hit.
Batman Superman: Worlds Finest #22> Trapped in the universe of Kingdom Come, the World's Finest heroes encounter skewed versions of their friends–a team calling itself the Justice Battalion! Can Batman and Superman prevent Boy Thunder from fulfilling his destiny and becoming the bloodthirsty Magog? (S) Mark Waid (A) Dan Mora
Smurfs Take> Decent start, still wanting to see more but I think that's just more me than the story. What the best part of this and really Worlds Finest in general is the Batman/Superman dynamic. The conversation between the two, the interaction, and how they function as a team. Waid delivers this at an expert level with a real understanding of the characters and is an absolute joy to read.
Alien #2> BODIES, BODIES, BODIES! Looking for that perfect combination of sex, suspicion and slaughter? Boy, has the Weyland-Yutani Corporation got a deal for you! Come aboard the Descendant for a dip into the exotic waters of an icy moon - stay for the pulse-pounding adventure of a lifetime! Scour the ocean floor for buried treasures from a lost vessel and uncover secrets from a legendary disaster. Select participants will receive a special gift from Jun Yutani himself. Don't miss a trip worth dying for! (S) Declan Shalvey (A) Declan Shalvey, Andrea Broccardo
Smurfs Take> This continues to be a smash hit for me! It has all the feels of the original comic, the first two films, and so much more. So far every story has built on the other and has done a magnificent job of filling in this world while taking the reader on a hell of a ride. You don't have to be an Alien fan to love this title, just someone who likes a good Sci-Fi horror story.
Big Game TP> Collecting the smash-hit crossover event of 2023, where over twenty Millarworld franchises are brought together for the first time and chaos ensues. This is Nemesis versus Kick-Ass, Kingsman, Superior, the Magic Order, Huck, the Night Club and all your favorite characters from Millarworld's comic books, movies, and TV shows.
Proudly presented by superstar writer MARK MILLAR (Civil War, Old Man Logan) and Marvel superstar artist PEPE LARRAZ (X-Men) on the 20th anniversary of Millarworld's first ever book, WANTED.
Collects BIG GAME #1-5 (S) Mark Millar (A) Pepe Larraz
Smurfs Take> This was a great idea and an amazing read. I didn't realize just how many characters Millar had created over the years and bringing them all together like this is pure genus. Must read for any fan of the Millar World!
