I woke up in A MOOD. We had septic issues with the rental property yesterday. Surprisingly, it was my dream world that influenced my mood this a.m. An hour after I got up, I tripped over the dog while carrying the laptop. Our son said, "Is the laptop alright?" I fell so hard that the dog looked alarmed. But, at least the laptop was alright. I was fine.
I decided to get into the gym and all was as right as rain again. We had started our day as a household earlier than usual due to the kid's dental appointments. I started the kids on their lessons as I completed the homesteading chores. We have 3 pregnant goats. Our pigs are growing well. The winter greens are growing extremely well this winter. We have been yielding a gallon of goat milk every day. I started some chores we needed to do that require setup. Our new chicken have been here 2 weeks. We are finally seeing egg laying equal to what we had.
Setup chores:
1 quart of nondairy yogurt
12 glass cup of yogurt
cheese
alfafa sprouts
bean sprouts for Asian dishes
sourdough starter
We paired our errands with the kids' dentist appointments. Dental appointments were short and there weren't any issues. We ended up at our new library. I get a headache everytime I go in there for a length of time. I suspect it is the new carpet. Walmart was the last stop. We spent 150 on a 10 day stockup. One gentleman who assumed I was single tried to strike up a conversation with as I was selecting kiwis. "Yes, I did know that kiwis are 1.25 a piece." He started going on and on. I ignored him and continued on my way. I put the produce in our cart. This gentleman apologized to my husband immediately. My husband laughed and said, "My wife has an effect on men. I fell in love with her the moment I met her." We continued on our way. Our daughter and son were in other areas getting items that were needed. They wanted to know what was so funny. I just rolled my eyes at my husband.
The family has requested that I make 2 hot, planned meals. I usually do this, however, the last month, I haven't been doing that. I have been doing planned breakfast and then a large dinner. Starting on Monday, I will be planning lunch and dinner as cooked meals. Planned and on the menu board, meals will be.
We returned home. The children went back to their lessons. I put a pork roast on.
We had a frugal tip from our butcher. He is now willing to store part of my homeraised meats. This will change how I handle the amount of meat I have processed. Those of you who watch my channel, you may have noticed I purchased pork and bacon, I lost the key to my freezer. The meat freezer came with a lock. My keys have been found between the seat. Frugal tip always have two keys to the freezer.
Walmart had taramind on sale for 25 cents. This is good for many recipes and can be froze. I purchased 20 packages. I use these for teas and recipes. Taramin has many health benefits.
Non-gluten pasta marked down to 25 cents a box. I puchased 30 boxes. Our son needs gluten free products. He eats a lot of pasta.
The keys to stocking up on clearance are expiration dates, what you can afford, what you will use, and what you can store.
Pantry dry goods should be stocked to complement fresh produce and meats.
You will make mistakes in items you buy. I purchased a tea on clearance. The tea is terrible to drink, however, placed in a teaball, it is lovely in a curry.
The first year, I had a Youtube channel, I received many subscription boxes. The products were okay. I gave many items away as gifts. I incorporated many into my decor. Subscription boxes can be a great way to gift yourself all year with one subscription.
