There are budget busters that I will not do because I do not like to them. Bagels is one example, I make lovely bagels, however, we do not use enough of them to ake it worth my time.
My survey work is only done when I am doing a shared task so the survey doesn't dominate my free time. Product tests are easy because I usually get cooking, laundry items, home decor, and fitness items.
Many of the things I do to save money, to improve our diet, and reduce waste, I have done for years. It is automatic to make stocks, freezer meals, etc. I always have the needed ingredients to make meals even if I haven't been able to shop. There are days I am banking my time, I make meals ahead for the freezer. This as come in handy in times of illness, a need to run up to rental, and other road trips. Most hotels have microwaves and coolers have improved, so food is easy to transport and cook on site. We travel to areas that do not have adequate grocery stores. For example, in Austin, Nevada, there is not a grocery store for 90 miles. We need to have a meal when we get there late. Think about that 90 miles to your nearest whole food sources.
Six healthy foods you can buy:
root vegetables
legumes
rice
tuna
almonds
Vegetable broth from the vegetable scraps you purchase
Tea can be used as inexpensive seasoning. I use lavender teas for flavored sugar, lemonade and baking. Curry is wonderful with a full spice tea.
