| Homemaking in the Dunes January 28 | I am done with Youtube. It is not worth my time. My following is small but the comments was far more than I have followers. I did a homestead walkaround with the gopro. I am keeping the videos up because my granddaughter loves them. The vet came out for the goats and Stella. Our fainting goat has a cracked horn. The fainting goat is not a goat that I seek to have many of. Tess was left at my gate with a note and pregnant. I gave her litter away to responsible owners who wanted them for foliage control. Yes, they faint when startled. They are very sweet and good goat mothers. They often reproduce off season. She was my first goat. Tess is one my sweetest goats. She is spayed. I did so because she does not need to have anymore kids. Myotonic goats have a mututation that creates the "fainting". I caught hell today for my goat fainting on camera. The little girl next door scared her. She was unaware that scaring Tess would cause her to freeze and faint. I was immediately attacked for animal cruelty. In the same video, I made it a point to explain why fainting goats faint and explained how to explain to children when they make a mistake. Her mother was standing off film as I was walking around. The only beings recorded were our animals. I suspect our little neighbor will grow up to have mnay animals she loves them. 99.999 percent of children are not mean-spirited. I haven't had a goat with a cracked horn. is not something that has happened in the past. Goats can be not breed not to have horns, they will have serious problems. I had my goats' horns removed the first year. I don't keep mutliple males, so there isn't a lot of in-fighting. Goat owners can remove their goats horns, I feel it is cruel. Poor Stella has a hot spot on her face and top of her head. I shaved her because she hates our vet. He was surprised that she is so good for me. I instructed him to have gentle hands. Honestly. he suffers from little man syndrome and my hunad is over 6 2 . This visit went better than the last one. The vet apologized to my husband. It is not often you can get a vet to make house calls. He didn't realize that I was a goat breeder. | | | | You can also reply to this email to leave a comment. | | | | |
