You know what makes you feel really good in life?
Being surrounded by women who support you.
Today as I joked with my colleague who sits outside my office, I realized the circle of supportive women in my life goes well beyond my office door.
I can't think of a single woman right now in my life who has close access to me who doesn't have my best interests at heart.
If anyone near to me does have ill intentions, that's on them and not my problem.
It hasn't always been this way, of course. My heart has callouses and bruises from pain inflicted on it by "friends" and extended family I let in when perhaps I shouldn't have. But maybe those experiences were necessary to sage the air around me.
Something beautiful happens when we trust each other and allow others to lift us up while we do the same for them.
When we are a beacon of warmth and light, we attract that same energy.
And boy, don't we women need that from each other?
Even as kids in the school yard, we are seeking that approval from other girls.
As adults, we can just be, trust, and share. And that's enough.
Thank you all who are part of my circle of light. The surging river has nothing on us!
