View all responses A snack I could eat right now would be homemade caramels. Cooking for me is a sensory experience, of course I enjoy eating. Yet. the smells and sights of cooking is equally enjoyable.  I love making caramels. We haven't had them since our son had his braces put on. This is another recipe that it connected to my Grammy Doris. The butter, sweet smells from melting the butter, the brown sugar, and heavy cream. The gentle stirring until the temperature hits 250 degrees. The thrill of watching the test threads forming as you drop a bit in cold water.  The sweet smell of adding the vanilla before you spread the carmel mixture onto a pan.
