Her thoughts in the gym, as she stepped up and down on the step, there are women who need a great deal of time of solitude. The sweat was starting to glisten across her toned chest and arms. The adrenaline was starting to hit her brain. There is no shame in saying I am tired of doing for others. It is not shameful or selfish, it is honest. It is a need. Political yammering gets on a woman's nerves. Fighting between kids can be annoying to one and all. Her throat tightened as she heard the diesel engine throttling up the hill.
Husbands that have no problem taking time to go skiing, fishing and to come home to say stupid things. Disrupting energy of the home. The wife points out that she never has time to herself. Her personal time is constantly interrupted, if her political stance doesn't match her husband's, her thoughts are cut off mid-sentence. She continues to beg what about MY TIME. His response is get a volunteer job. Did he not hear she is sick of mothering A MAN. There is a fine line between being a wife and a mother to a husband.
Her list of house duties which had been set by a deceased woman she had never met were the corner stone of her. Marcy had expected maybe the first year of the marriage as the children acclimated to having a new parent. Marcy didn't even mind keeping pictures of the frumpy woman in the house, she was the children's past, their mother. However, she had expected to have her own way of doing things, maybe a hybrid of the former's mother's methods.
Dick had expected her to wear the dead woman's clothing, altered to fit her lithe body. Dick had lamented that it would be help the children identify with her and save money. Dick was cheap. He wouldn't spend on the things the family needed, let alone wanted.
The heavy steps into the gym told him that he was on a tirade after listening to NPR. Of course she was right.
"Do you realize that 81 percent of the white Christian Nationalists voted for Donald Trump. They have to be the stupidest people on the planet. "
"I am sick of your liberal agenda, why do you have pigeon hole every one into a box when we are talking about politics. First, you were ranting and raving about Russia, then Israel, and Donald Trump. "Marcy said gently. She had a way of knocking out sentences quickly. She added I assume they were discussing "The Flag and the Cross."
"Liberal agenda, honey it is about the world is changing. Marcy, you need to change your ways of thinking."
"Dick, my world is not changing beyond these four walls. I raise your children. The only time I have for myself is using the bathroom, even then, someone is yelling at me for something or about something. You go fishing for days at time. I am stuck here raising your four children. Homeschooling them because the schools are too radicalized. I am tired of taking of every single thing and everyone." Have you read The Flag and The Cross "Marcy sneered.
She thought to herself," I certainly have. Politics are more complicated than one book. Wars are not informed on one set of ideals."
"Maybe, you should get a volunteer job. You know help people."
