I recieved a call from "Etsy" today. I had an issue with an order. The call sounded like it was okay. I was asked to download ANYDESK. I did so as it is an service app. However, he asked me to log into my Bank account. My bank account I do not use with Esty. I use another bank for Etsy. So, I knew something was up. I ended the call. I called the phone number back and it was disconnected. I ran my b=virus software and sure enough there was a virus.
I notified ETSY. I changed all my passwords. I received a phone call from North Carolina tonight at 11:00 pm. I asked questions the time and it wasn't adding up. The caller hung up. I called back and again, the phone was disconnected.
ETSY is hard to get ahold of. The typical communication is chat. I wanted a phone call yesterday and today. So, I decided to close my Etsy account because my alternate bank account was cleaned out, they thought they would hit our main account. I filed a report with my alternate bank.
My advice to anyone who is going to have an Etsy store, you should never use your main bank account. Think of how devastating this could have been to a main checking account that you pay your expenses out of.
My EBAY was hit, however, EBAY notified me right after I got off the phone with my Fake Esty technical support.
