I believe everything you do and think shows up on your face. We went to town because we also have 2 free hair cuts and a color service from the raffle basket I won. The shop is close to Walmart. My husband napped in the car. Our daughter and I went in for haircuts and my color service. This was a savings of 250 dollars. I normally color my hair myself. However, this saved me time, and money this money because I haven't ordered my salon quality products.
Our daughter isn't terribly interested in her appearance, so often she calls me Barbie. I wear Barbie Pink lipstick to bug her. This afternoon, I told her before we went she needed a facial which is a biweekly battle. She hates it, however, it keeps the acne under control. One day, she will thank me, just not today. Today was attitude. We went to get our hair done. The stylist complemented her on her skin. Our daughter rolled her eyes, "My mother is always after my skin." The stylist tells her to she could consider herself lucky because in a small rural area many teenagers with skin issues do not get them addressed.
We dropped our daughter off at her art class. We went to Walmart to pick up a few things. My husband is geared up for the Superbowl, he had stopped and was talking to another gentleman. I went off to pick up things as he was talking. I come back and the gentleman's wife quite nasty, "If I wore that much makeup, I could look like your daughter too." I had missed the conversation where Dan assumed I was my husband's daughter. Now, I stood there a minute. I cannot stand catty women. " I smiled, I don't have face makeup on. I have magentic lashes and lisptick. What you are seeing is living well, I don't drink every day, good genes, never smoking, skin care, and sunscreen. Also, my I have resting sad face, not active one." I wasn't going to say resting bitch face in Walmart. One of my favorite managers said, "I am so glad you put her in her place." You might wonder what I was wearing. I had my hair blown put and highlighted fresh from the shop. I was wearing one of my vintage parure sets which is aearrings, bracelet, and brooch and necklace set with a nice dress and mid-high heels.
The typical shopper in our Walmart is wearing pajamas and looks sloppy. Unwashed hair and unbrushed hair is more common than not. I have always been very strict about making our children look put together. I am sound like a snob, but lets face it, first impressions make lasting impressions. I think as a stay-at-home mother it is my "job" to make sure everyone is washed, pressed, and shined up.
We picked up out daughter from art class, she had that look, that young girls get. There's a boy. She wants to invite him to the Superbowl party we are having. Maybe, just maybe, mom can I wear your Barbie Pink lipstick.
