"It's probably not by chance that I'm alone. It would be very hard for a man to live with me, unless he is very strong. And if he's stronger than I, I'm the one who can't live with him." ~ Coco Chanel
Last month, I posted a photo of myself sans makeup. I've had several people ask me what products I use on my skin. At 56 years old, I have a few wrinkles which is to be expected. Here are my rules for skincare:
- Drink plenty of water every day - at least three 20 oz bottles per day
- Never go to sleep with makeup on your face.
- The best skincare products are not necessarily the most expensive.
- I personally use DRMTLGY products - essential cleanser, universal tinted moisturizer, microdermabrasion scrub (twice a week), peptide night cream (every night) and retinol complex 0.5% (three times a week).
- At least one day a week, go without makeup to give your skin a chance to breathe
- Use sunscreen when you go outside - the universal tinted moisturizer from DRMTLGY is SPF 46.
February is the time to start working on the garden. From building fence, to making raised beds, to propagating seeds inside until it is warm enough to plant them outside -- this is a time of hope; hope for warmer weather, hope for new life. How wonderful that it coincides with the Lenten season and our hope for eternal life.
Moving from the outside garden to happenings inside the house -- almost everything is in place to re-do the main bathroom. I'm not sure how well it will be received that the mirror, vanity, sink, and toilet are about to be ripped out and disposed of. (yes, I know I ended that sentence on a preposition). I can function in a rehab environment with no problem. The question is whether my 18 y/o daughter will be able to do her hair and make-up in alternate locations. That . . . and the oscillating saw makes the dogs go wild. One dog can handle the sound for about 10 minutes and then starts spinning and barking as if I'm being murdered in the most bloody method. There will be photos, but there are also a few surprise aspects that haven't been discussed and won't be revealed until the bathroom is complete.
I hope everyone is staying warm and happy. There are so many days of "false spring" that seem to tease us with what is in store for us in just a few short months. I did not rake my leaves this last fall, hoping to provide a nesting spot for various beetles, moths, butterflies and bugs. (And I want to use them in the bottom of my garden beds as well - so partly selfish.)
Feel free to comment with your plans for this month of February.
