Thrift Stores, garage sales, clearance, Facebook Marketplace, Buy Nothing groups, you can find almost anything you need for less.
Predict your children's sizes. Our daughter seems to be at her adult height and shoe size. I buy clearance items ahead to these sizes. With young children, trace their bare feet onto to paper, and size shoes this way when they aren't with you. I have always had a bin with clothing and shoes in larger sizes.
Budget for your luxuries.
