For he has not ignored the suffering of the needy. He has not turned and walked away. He has listened to their cries for help. Psalm 22:24 (NLT 1996)
Let all mortals – those born to die – bow down in his presence. Psalm 22:29 (NLT 1996)
He has not turned and walked away. Oh, I keep coming back to this verse. God has not turned and walked away from us. He has listened. He is the God who hears. Know that he hears us. Selah! Selah.
But if you combine that with verse 29 - Let all mortals – those born to die – bow down in his presence – it is even more wonderful. God did not turn away from our suffering but sent down his son, Jesus, to become one of those born to die. He did not walk away from our cries for help, but he came and was born to die too. He suffered and died with us.
He has not turned and walked away. Many of us have been abandoned. The ones who were supposed to love and care for us ignored our suffering and walked away. They turned from our cries for help and soon those cries became wordless tears in the night. Silenced. Stuffed.
But God listened. And he saved every tear.
You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book. Psalm 56:8
And he did not abandon us. He did not walk away. Remember that in your sufferings today precious one. He came. And he stayed. He is here with you now.
"Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means 'God is with us.'" Matthew 1:23 (NLT)
For the LORD your God is a merciful God; he will not abandon or destroy you or forget the covenant with your ancestors, which he confirmed to them by oath. Deuteronomy 4:31
We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 2 Corinthians 4:8-9
Even if my father and mother abandon me, the LORD will hold me close. Psalm 27:10 (NLT)
And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Matthew 28:20 (NLT)
Selah!
