Players - Budget Unknown - 1 hour and 45 minutes
Sports writer Mack and her friends - Adam, Little, and Brannagan - are relaxing at a bar when Brannagan spots a woman he likes. They go through their tried-and-true list of plays to help Brannagan win the woman over. However, he doesn't want a long-term relationship. They all want a quick-and-easy one-night stand. After assessing the woman's clothes, shoes, and possible city of residence, they pick the plan. Mack and Brannagan walk near the woman at the bar, and Mack pretends to break up with him. Instead of insulting him, she humbly brags about his wealth and sexual prowess. After Mack leaves with the group, the woman flirts with Brannagan. Adam walks Mack to the subway and jokes about her using a well-made plan to sleep with her soon-to-be ex-neighbor. Mack says she won't but does.
Mack, Brannagan, and Adam discuss the last batch of layoffs at work when famed correspondent Nick walks into the room to speak to their boss, Kirk. Mack is instantly attracted and wants to create a plan. Brannagan and Adam uncover that Nick will attend their co-worker's retirement party and decide to go. They execute a flawless plan, and Mack leaves with Nick. She has an exquisite tryst and pretends she scheduled a rideshare home when Nick offers to do it for her.
Mack meets with Adam and confesses that she likes Nick. Nick isn't immature like the other men she has played. He has a framed photo with his parents and matching dishes. She wants this one night to become a relationship. This plan is something they haven't tried before. Adam wants her to do the No-Play Play, but Mack doesn't believe that will work. The team meets in a boardroom and creates a custom play for Nick. First, they ask Mack about her goal. They need to know when the plan worked. Mack says she wants a drawer in Nick's home. And that plan could take three months. They realize it is a long con that will take stealth planning and maneuvering. Can the players succeed and land a relationship for the first time?
This movie is Barney Stinson's Robin Plan (FTC Affiliate Disclaimer). They have plans for all occasions. And Mack doesn't just cheer them on. She gets involved. She believes that everyone unknowingly accepts the lies as part of the game. Everyone else gets a story to tell, and they have some fun. As the story progresses, Mack slowly notices that everyone is backing away from the player lifestyle. They are all growing up and seeking a more meaningful connection. Now, viewers can guess the conclusion after witnessing several interactions between Mack, her friends, and Nick. So you watch for the creative plans and raunchy jokes to get to a predictable yet heartfelt conclusion.
