I've missed chronicling my thoughts the past three days. This morning, I am perched on the sofa in the sunroom with my right leg elevated. According to my doctor's instructions, my right lower leg and foot should be elevated, higher than my heart.
That's easy to do if you're lying down. If you are sitting upright on a sofa, it is more challenging. I've ruled out standing on my head.
Again this morning, my direct view is out the door across from the sofa. There is something about the start of a new day that rejuvenates my spirit.
Over the past three days, I've thought often about the celebration of life service for my brother. It was one of those services where everyone present went away with a sense of gratitude that they were in attendance.
Many in attendance traveled great distances to be present. For that matter, everyone carved time out of busy schedules.
Thank all of you who surrounded us with your love and support. The Swedish proverb comes to mind: "Shared joy is double joy; shared sorrow is half sorrow." Your presence was a great comfort.
I have nothing but praise for Lake Travis United Methodist Church and pastor Jason Surdy. Scores of that family of faith assisted in addressing every need.
The link for the live stream also became the link for the video. When I subsequently watched the video, I realized there were figuratively a thousand and one moving parts. It is a high-quality professional production.
Being seated on the first row during the service, I didn't feel like I missed anything, and I sensed the service could not have been better. When I watched the video, it broadened my perspective.
If you didn't have a chance to be in attendance or missed the live stream, you can find the service at
