The Word of God is compared to a sword. The Greek word translated 'sword' means a short sword or dagger.
Using the description that The Word is a sword, it not suggesting that Our Lord and Ourt Friend uses His Word to hurt us.
Certainly, the Word cuts the heart of sinners with conviction {Acts 5 Verse 33 and Acts 7 verse 54: and The Word defeats Satan Ephesians 6 v 17:}
"Take the helmet of salvation and the Sword of The Spirit, which is God's Word".
The emphasis is on the Power of The Word to penetrate and expose a person's heart. The Word is a discerner and exposes our inner most thoughts and desires.
With surgical precision of a scalpel The Word gently and accurately cuts away diseased flesh from healthy and bring new life to the rest of our flesh.
Our Lord and Our Friend uses His Word to enable us to see the sin and unbelief in our own hearts.
Hebrews 4 Verse 12: "For The Word od God is living and effective and sharper than any two-edge sword, penetrating as far as to divide soul, spirit, joints and marrow; it is a judge of ideas and thought of the heart".
His Word exposes our hearts, and then if we trust Him. His Word enables our hearts to obey and claim His promises.
This experience of allowing His Word to operate in our lives, enables us to be honest with Him and trust Him with the plans He has for our lives.
Jeremiah 29 Verse 11. "Plans for your welfare, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
God Bless.
