My great-grandmother was very superstitious. She had many superstitions. Breaking mirrors was bad luck, itchy palm was good luck. Spill the salt on the floor, toss some over your shoulder. Don't walk under a ladder, don't open an umbrella, these will be bad luck. Sweeping the floor at night sweeping a way luck. A horse shoe over your door will bring good luck. My greatgrandmother believed that every time she dreamed of black horses , someone would die.
