Know the importance of the season
Proverbs 10:5 "Know the importance of the season you're in and a wise son you will be. But what a waste when an incompetent son sleeps through the day of opportunity". The Passion Translation
NKJV "He who gathers in summer is a wise son; He who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame".
The Message "Make hay while the sun shines – that's smart; go fishing during harvest – that's stupid."
When I read this verse in The Passion Translation bible recently, it caught my attention. The importance of knowing the season we are in.
There are the natural seasons of life – childhood, teen years, and on through to old age (by the grace of God), and each season has its blessings and challenges. Summer, autumn, winter and spring – weather seasons.
There are the seasons of the soul, where we go through grief, disappointments, celebrations, loneliness, joy, triumphs – and these help us learn to be overcomers in life and to trust in our Lord and Friend, Jesus Christ. As we lean into Him in these trials and tests, we grow and mature to be those who worship in spirit and in truth; the ones the Father is seeking after. John 4:23 ("til we come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the statue of the fullness of Christ." Ephesians 4:13 NKJV)
Ecclesiastes 3:11 NLT "God has made everything beautiful for its own time."
Our Lord and Friend is at work in each of our lives, individually and corporately, weaving us together into His perfect plan and purpose. Which is good and pleasing and perfect. Let's put our trust in Him to perfect what He has started.
May His Grace be multiplied to you.
