Pulling down Strongholds From the Heart
2 Corinthians 10:3-6 The Message Bible "The world is unprincipled. It's dog-eat-dog out there! The world doesn't fight fair. But we don't' live or fight our battles that way – never have, never will. The tools of our trade aren't for marketing or manipulation, but they are for demolishing that entire massively corrupt culture. We use our powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ. Our tools are ready at hand for clearing the ground of every obstruction and building lives of obedience into maturity."
Spiritual strongholds in the mind, are mental or emotional spaces that are like fortresses that have been built on lies that we have believed for a long time. These lies lead to negative thought patterns, beliefs and behaviours that can obstruct our path towards spiritual maturity.
Some examples of emotional strongholds are doubt, rejection, poor self-esteem, a victim mentality, pride, anxiety and stubbornness. When we allow these thoughts to rule in our minds, it is a sign that we have not fully put our trust in our Lord and Friend to lead us along His good path for our lives. As we keep our eyes on Him and allow Holy Spirit to lead us, He will reveal areas of lies we are believing, and give us the truth from the Word of God that will empower us to pull down that stronghold.
Proverbs 18:10 The Passion Translation "The character of God is a tower of strength, for the lovers of God delight to run into His heart and be exalted on high". Another translation says "the Name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous will run into it and be safe" Amen
This is my declaration: I purpose by the grace of God, to build up one stronghold within my heart and my mind: the stronghold of the living God.
Grace and peace be multiplied to you in Christ.
