I wouldn't read this book if you are triggered by child abuse and sexual abuse. The Quadrulpets have adysfunctional childhood headed by a domineering mother and a father who keeps everyone in child with a abuse and feigning illness. First , I think being one of a multple birth affected their brain structure and chemistry coupled with child abuse, these children didn't have a chance of anormal life. I believe that each of the girls had CPTSD and developmental problems that could have been treated. Their childhood started off as a carnival act. The mother wasn't cut out to be a stage mother. Both parents clearly have mental health issues. The mother likely had borderline personality disorder and the father was a socipath. Had the mother left the father which wasn't done often in the 1930's, and the children had correct interventions. Two of the girls had horrific surgical treatment for what termed hypersexuality. Maybe, Sarah, Helen, Edna, and Wilma may have a had a shot at life. Their parents were very different from each other. Sadie was a trained nurse from a nice family. Carl was a Hilter loving German immigrant who was a bigot. He abused Sadie on their wedding night. Sadie had no where to turn because people simply didn't talk about such things. Why would I read this book, these stories need to be told and not forgotten. People have a tendency to overlook, follow like sheep. | | | | You can also reply to this email to leave a comment. | | | | |
