When Denis Villeneuve's "Dune: part one" came out in 2021, it was a lot to take in. Especially if you were'nt into the book series or didn't see the 1984 film version. But it was so visually outstanding to me I enjoyed the heck out of it, even at its very slow complicated pace. I'm also hungry for an excuse to go back to the theaters right now and this sequel looks promising to say the least.
*The MEAT* The story is right out of Frank Herbert's epic science fiction novel. I have never read it myself, but sci-fi enthusiasts have always loved it. So, I asked a few big "Dune" fans that can attest to how well this new film follows the book. And they came away very happy with the details and overall care that Denis Villeneuve's put into this film adaptation. As for me, "part Two" was way easier to follow and understand than the first film.
*The PATATOES* The acting just keeps getting better and better as this movie goes on. Timothee Chalamet flows in the lead role so well he makes the journey much more believable. Then Austin Butler shows up with such an awesome villain that he steals scenes away from all the other actors. Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, and Rebecca Ferguson are back playing their fun characters and Zendaya has much more screen time. Just a *Great Entertaining Cast* and did I mention Christapher Walken? I love him.
*The VERDICT* Usually I would recommend a movie like this for the theaters on visuals and cinematography alone. But this time, I will make this a *Must See* event for the Dolby or Imax theaters. "Dune: part two" is that spectacular and breathtaking because it pulls you in and does not let go. There are memorable scenes where the Dolby theater seats just shake you to the core and I could not imagine getting that feeling anywhere else. I simply loved this movie experience, and it is better than the "Part One". I cannot recommend "Dune: Part Two" enough.
