Yeah, you're right, I'm exaggerating, but it's gonna feel like Alaska! The "northern contingent," as I refer to them, just had a baby, and the baptism is coming up soon. I checked out the forecast up there for the rest of this week, and into the next, and BRRRRRR. It's gonna be cold, with more snow possible. You would think that at least one of my kids could have moved to Florida, close to the beach, but, no, that didn't happen. So, here we go again, me and hubby (and stinky breath dog) off on a long cold drive.
I took Stinky Breath to the veterinarian this morning, to see if there was anything we could do about the breath. Apparently, he's just old, and his teeth are falling out. For a mere $600-$850, they will pull out our dog's teeth. WHAT? That's ridiculous! He's an old dog, and he's not in any discomfort whatsoever, so I can promise you (especially with the inflation we're suffering through right now!) we are not paying a hefty fee to have dog's teeth pulled. I hardly go to the dentist myself! Hubby and I will continue to brush his teeth daily, and give him softer food, if needed, and let his teeth fall out on the own. It amazes me sometimes, how much people will spend on their pets trying to heal them from cancer or some other serious illness. Don't get me wrong, we love and spoil our pets, but we're not going to go bankrupt over them. Still, though, it's sad when we realize that our dog is getting within a few years of dying. He's the best dog ever. And when he's gone, there will be no more dogs
Luckily for us, "northern contingent" is a happy place for pets, and our dogs all know each other and they get along well, so as long as my husband and I are not fumigated on the drive up (or back) things will be fine….except for the weather. The best part will be seeing our grandchildren in person, and having time to spend with them, and meeting our new grandson, Praise God for his blessings! (But I'd still prefer a tropical beach setting.)
