It seemed like I was feeling better, with more energy, and less brain fog, so I got carried away this past weekend, allowed myself to go places, do something other than sitting around the house, eating beans. I spent Saturday with a friend, a fun little outing, then on Sunday, after Mass, hubby and I went to visit one of his older relatives who just had surgery. We stayed and chatted quite a while with her, and with some cousins who were there. Then, youngest daughter invited us over for dinner, for which I brought a dessert of Irish Shortbread sheep cookies (which I had purchased on Saturday during my trip to Jungle Jims). They had gluten, but I ate two of them. 😜
There was a St. Patrick's day celebration at a friend's house that I wanted to go to, but I decided that would be too much, so we nixed that plan. When we got home after supper, I decided to have a small drink of the Irish Creme liquor that I've had in storage for several months, as a toast to St. Patrick and his wonderful and amazing accomplishments (in the land of my Irish ancestors) while here on earth. Alcohol is not good for a body under stress, but I did it anyway. I slept well last night, but woke up with brain fog…., so today I'm paying for my busy weekend, and my small bout of "cheating."
Today, it's back to the beans for every meal, and drinking detox teas, and resting. I've never been that good at sticking exclusively to a strict diet, or at sitting still very long. I need a "little cheat" every once in a while, eating or drinking a bit of something tasty, or getting out of the house for a while. But, now comes payback time, with fatigue, dizziness, and brain fog. Oh, well, into every life a little fog must form, and a bit of suffering must be endured. I'm just upping the ante! St. Patrick's day doesn't roll around for another year. I hope that by next year at this time, I'll be in a much better place, health-wise. Pray for me St. Patrick, for the grace to carry my health burdens with style, humility, and a positive outlook, offering it up for the sake of others in need of my prayers!
I'll end with another prayer penned by St. Patrick:
May the Strength of God guide us.
May the Power of God preserve us.
May the Wisdom of God instruct us.
May the Hand of God protect us.
May the Way of God direct us.
May the Shield of God defend us.
May the Angels of God guard us.
- Against the snares of the evil one.
May Christ be with us!
May Christ be before us!
May Christ be in us,
Christ be over all!
May Thy Grace, Lord,
Always be ours,
This day, O Lord, and forevermore. Amen.
