The General is a problem solver, and she fairly consistently identifies me as the problem. For about a week now, I've reached out to her to look in the filing cabinets in the attic for information that I need. The problem is that I could not identify which of the three filing cabinets or in which file drawer for her to look.
Never let it be said that the General is open to a scavenger hunt when multiple file drawers are involved. In my own defense, my filing system was at one time organized and manageable. For almost two years, I had no access to the filing cabinets because they were in storage. Consequently, they were not accessible. My default was to simply make do.
Purging files has been on my list for a long time. I knew it needed to be done, but I never would have suggested that yesterday be the day. Okay, so I pleaded with her for assistance. Her response was not what I had in mind.
The General's solution to the problem was to make labels for every file and ensure that the contents matched the labels. That was a lot more than I was asking for. I needed two things from the filing cabinets. She looked at the places I suggested she look and determined, "I'm not doing this!"
Her organizational skills kicked in with the threat of kicking me out if I offered a rebuttal. Okay, so we are not yet done, but we are almost done. The General assured me that we are not stopping until the job is completed.
With that being said, how am I supposed to look forward to today? There is more to come. Fortunately, we are going to church this morning even though I cannot talk. My daughter assures me that it has been three weeks since we've had a conversation. My son concurs with his sister. Both are ready to talk. Please hear me say there is nothing I'd like more.
By the time, the General finishes the project that has become her priority, thing will be much better for me. We are down to the last filing cabinet and I still haven't found one of the things I need. I found something that provides the same information, but the General says we are not stopping until it is all done.
All My Best!
Don
