View all responses The Great Gatsby has always been the book I return to time and time again. The messiness of class struggles, greed, love, violence in ontaining the American Dream. The wealthy can be just as debase as the working class, sometimes more so. I always want a happy ending for Daisy and Gatsby everytime I read this book. Daisy is not able to connect with others beyond material wealth. Daisy's marriage with Tom was crippling unhappy, yet, they leave town with their daughter to live their version of happiness.
