View all responses The first year I left an abusive relationship money was very tight. I had a mountain of debt. I paid off the debt that year in full. I decided that if there was a service I could learn, a product I could repurpose, etc. The first thing I learned to do was change the oil in my car. It was not something I would have chosen to do, it was messy. Little by little, I was able to get rid of the debts, and regain my independence.
