The government has announced that the Work and Health Programme, which provides support to help disabled people into work, will close later this year.
The £100m programme, commissioned by the Department for Work & Pensions since 2017, will not be extended beyond Autumn 2024.
300,000 jobseekers across England and Wales have received support over the last seven years.
In Sheffield, the Work & Health Programme is delivered by Reed in Partnership, whose advisors provide advice and guidance, skills training and health support to unemployed residents who are claiming jobseekers benefits.
Earlier this year, the government announced the introduction of Universal Support - a new national programme designed to provide employment support for higher-needs jobseekers.
Universal Support is to be rolled out in a phased approach, from Autumn 2024 to 2025, raising concerns that some may experience a gap in centrally funded provision.
