Tie my commands around your neck.
I have been reading Proverbs from The Living Translation; today being day 3, I came across the above alternative meaning from Proverbs 3:3b. "Let your life be shaped by integrity". The neck is a symbol of our will and conscience.
Verse 1 starts with "My child, if you truly want a long and satisfying life." There are so many exhortations in this chapter for those who follow after Wisdom; from finding healing and refreshment, to overflowing with blessings from an uncontainable source of inner joy; to discovering your purpose; to being energized and refreshed; to sleeping like a baby safe and sound; to having God as your confidence in times of crises and keeping your heart at rest in every situation; to finding friendship with God and hearing his intimate secrets.
1 Corinthians 1:30 NKJV "But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God – and righteousness and sanctification and redemption."
The Passion Translation "For it is not from a man that we draw our life but from God as we are being joined to Jesus, the Anointed One. And now He is our God-given wisdom, our virtue, our holiness and our redemption. And this fulfills what is written: If anyone boasts, let him only boast in all that the Lord has done."
Some of the headings in Proverbs 3 ; the rewards of Wisdom; Wisdom's correction; Wisdom's blueprints; Wisdom, our hiding place; Wisdom in relationships.
In every area of our lives, we have access, by grace, to our Lord and Friend. We receive help and strength and wisdom to be overcomes as we yield to Him, abide in Him and in His unfailing love.
Shalom
