I recently watched this video where Anne Hathaway gave commentary on scenes from various movies throughout her career.
She didn't once degrade herself, or remark about her appearance. Not even in The Princess Diaries.
She talked about what a privilege it was to be on set as a teenager with Julie Andrews.
The award-winning actress, stunning with red lips and her hair pulled back (she wouldn't have even noted that) praised the actors she worked with throughout her career so far. She talked about how her mom had also played Fantine in Le Mis, and described the emotion she felt while singing about Fantine's heartbreak.
Anne heaped positive words on the costume designers and the sets.
I was inspired by how this famous actress avoided every possibility to undermine her worth, when self-depreciation is the norm in our society.
Maybe I will put myself down a little less in the future, even jokingly. I hope you will do the same for yourself.
