Department of Work and Pensions
Oh my what a tangled web the Tories weave, slinging mud at other Political Parties, when they are the original people that tell lies about the POST OFFICE and now THE CARERS are going through more of the same thing. Government Ministers not doing their job properly. Can we keep putting up with this government's slipshod attitude? What I have to say that the two former Ministers who worked in the Department of Work and Pensions have stated to the BBC that they telling the government to pause the demands for repayments of large sums of money, after all it was the government who put them into that difficult situation by not doing their job properly. Why did the former Ministers tell the BBC? Was it to give them an alibi that they were doing something for the Carers?
A DWP spokesperson said it is "committed to fairness in the welfare system" and that safeguards are in place "for managing repayments while protecting the public purse." What a laughable statement this is and what a lame excuse. "Protecting the Public Purse!" They have never protected the Public Purse, more like they have pinched the public hard earned money!
Full-time carers can claim £81.90 a week, but they become ineligible for the whole amount if they earn just a pound over £151 a week, after tax and expenses. Anyway compared with an member of parliament's pay packet, (£36,000 maybe or more) who sits in parliament, and after viewing them don't do anything strenuous, while a Carer can work 24 hours and gets a mere pittance of £81.90 a week. Whoever came up with this sum of money for Carers should be hung, drawn and quartered and not necessarily in that order!
It amazes me that these Tory Members of Parliament who are beginning to wake up to the idea that somehow these problems that are happening to the CARERS are the fault of the DEPARTMENT OF WORK AND PENSIONS part of the government establishment who are covering up their mistakes by making suggestions that the CARERS who have gone over the limit should be prepared to pay back what they owe, due to being bullied and harassed.
This was later reported CARER'S BULLIED BY GOVERNMENT namely: DWP and as of February 2023, the DWP said it was seeking to recover £145,567 overpayments of Carer's Allowance! BUT IT WAS DWP'S FAULT IN THE FIRST PLACE FOR ALLOWING THIS TO HAPPEN!
Of course Benefit staff get automatic alerts from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) if a Carer's Allowance claimant is earning too much. Isn't that amazing Benefit staff get these alerts. A case of THEM and US!
Oh my goodness, isn't it just wonderful that the TORIES have come up with a loophole. The DWP's systems, and staff shortages, have led to "substantial backlogs" in checking flagged cases of potential overpayments. Well there you are, the carers are not to blame and the TORIES don't really care about the people they are supposing to be serving and during the LOCKDOWN that was proved beyond any doubt. ONE LAW FOR DORIS AND HIS GOVERNMENT AND ANOTHER FOR JOE PUBLIC!
SCANDALOUS MISCARRIAGE OF JUSTICE AGAIN!

The report below was taken from online internet:
"Sir Steve Webb, a Liberal Democrat pensions minister in the coalition government who now works at a pensions consultancy, agrees a pause is probably the right answer!
Sir Steve also says the earnings limit should be scrapped. "These are people who are absolutely at their wits' end and to then come along and say 'oh, you went a pound or two over the limit, you know, here's a court case or a fine' or whatever. It's just outrageous.
The whole system should be scrapped and outstanding monies should be written off!"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I repeat:
BUT IT WAS DWP'S FAULT IN THE FIRST PLACE FOR ALLOWING THIS TO HAPPEN!
And locally it doesn't seem to end and now we get a newspaper with a picture of our government rep on the front page with another promise of £500,000 for safer streets in Eastbourne. Does this include filling all the holes in the roads? Probably not, for the £18,000,000 that was glibly mentioned in the last piece of paper sent to all in Eastbourne was going to be used. Perhaps the Tories think we will forget the promise of this sum of money that is not going to be used. To tell a lie is unforgiveable! To print a lie or lies just to get votes for the next election is outrageous and unforgiveable!
It was probably just a figment of their puny minds! I see on the back page of this newspaper is a section where the Tories are slinging mud against the Labour Party AGAIN. The one thing that Tories do well is to remark on how other Political Parties have failed. Although one could say: "The Tories were looking in the mirror when they said these things!"
Probably now that every street in Eastbourne is virtually a GOLF COURSE with more than the eighteen holes necessary. Mind you some of the holes are big enough for a MEDICINE BALL to fit in quite comfortably and I am sure in some cases a person could lay full length!
TORIES If you start repairing the ROADS AND PAVEMENTS before the GENERAL ELECTION. I'll believe you, but not before that HAPPENS!
The above is just my opinion and anyone who wants to write to me care of the newspaper regarding this content – please do so! Swear words are not accepted.
