My passion is to find things free, reduced in price, or make things myself. The first thing you will need to do is address your attitude toward budgeting for needs and wants. A conversation with your spouse about spending. My husband and I have similar views about our spending decisions and savings. We are having our roof replaced in the middle of the month. We are paying for it in cash from our home repair account.
Do your chores during off-peak hours to reduce your power bill.
Tweak your thermostat settings.
Look around your home for needed repairs. Our roof had been damaged by the winds.
DIY home decor, especially during the holiday season. This is also an excellent way to generate side income. I have done wedding, Christmas, and cosplay orders.
I no longer buy condiments. I make mustard, ketchup, salad dressings, mayo, BBQ sauce, and other sauces.
Soft drinks are no longer purchased.
Start slowly if you are looking to reduce what you are purchasing. Start with 5 items that you know can you easily.
Eateries have gotten out of hand. We refuse to go to restaurants that have mandatory tipping structure added to the bill and then they expect a tip on top of it. My husband and I always tip well out of conscience, I refuse to be forced to do it. We used to go to a place in town for date night. The manager saw me at Walmart and asked me why I left after I was seated. I explained I was protesting the tipping structure and lousy service.
