"Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes" is the fourth installment of the new "Apes" movie franchise that emmidiately asks the question of *Why?* Why do we need another movie in this storyline? If I seem to be a little pre judgemental, I kind of am because I wasn't impressed with any of the sequels. Now, the first movie "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" totally blew me away! It surpased all expectations, gave tribute to the original and set up a storyline that could go on. Unfortunately, that storyline quickly imploded on itself due to poor writing. I thought they were done. But here we are…
*The MEAT* The story goes on after the three movie Caesar storyline ends, it's been a few decades, I assume, since the last movie took place, and the Apes live within this apocalyptic world with their own clans. Humans are the wild animals now and the Apes are presumably the smarter species. Actually the best part of the story was when they teased the next movie's storyline which I found aggravating and an insult to me and the audience that showed up for this movie.
*The PATATOES* Not much in the acting department here. Basically, we have one human actress played by Freya Allen and she does *Okay*. Everyone else is just actors being animated as apes. Now, the special effects are outstanding, but not enough to make me care about the main characters. Oh, and William H Macy shows up for a very small role which was a waste of his talents.
*The VERDICT* I couldn't help but get the same feeling as I did when watching the last "Avatar" film, as in am I really watching a cartoon here? Because everything is so animated nothing seems real, but it sure looks real due to the awesome special effects. There is just no way I could recommend this movie; the whole thing was *Very Unnecessary* and I honestly had trouble staying awake. Save your money and more importantly your time on this one.
