I was quite sure this quilt would not become a pattern, until I picked it back up to finish hand quilting it. I took it to my guild's sew day recently to work on the quilting, and there was an interest in the quilt and a pattern to share. The more I quilt, the prettier the piece becomes, so I'm reconsidering writing a pattern!
I have not, to date, shown the whole quilt online. It's a patriotic piece which is rather poignant this time of year. I worked on it some during the Memorial Day weekend, counting my blessings. I'm so grateful for the many blessings in my life, to include God, my husband, my family, and my country. I'm grateful for the men and women who have given everything to ensure our freedoms. Quilting time allows for prayer and reflection, and I'm thankful for that time as well.
As for the pattern, I took good notes whilst making the quilt. Together with pictures of finished blocks, templates, and diagrams with instructions, it might just make a great pattern! There are 27 blocks, many of them different traditional ones. It features piecing, applique, and a bit of embroidery.
At first the size of the pattern was daunting, considering I needed instructions for each block individually. However, I quickly realized this wasn't a pattern I was writing, it's a book. I have an outlet in Amazon to be able to publish my own books, so this worked out well!
I can't promise I'll work through the pattern quickly since it's almost summer and life calls. But I can promise that I'm working on it and hope to finish it before fall! The process is made much easier by the fact that I did take good notes when making the quilt, so I have cutting sizes and directions worked out already. Now to make them digital, clear, and concise! Pictures are a whole 'nother matter, so I'll have to work on those on a sunny day. Sunshine makes all the difference with clear photos!
I pray you're having a lovely Friday!
Stacy
