I am finding the television news too upsetting, I have elected to read the Washington Post instead. Last night, I was on the phone with my oldest daughter. It is a beautiful space when you become best friends. Last night we were sharing the history that shapes us both. I ended up going to bed very late and getting up late. I found some interesting information about my father in old newspapers, I will write about later as I process through it.
My activities around the homestead were mucking the animal pens, gathering the eggs, and harvesting Spring greens. I spent an hour teaching our little neighbor to sew. She has been learning boundaries. She put a note in our note box that we have for neighbors to leave a note. I woke up this morning to this little note:
Dear Missy,
I like looking around your yard.
I would like to like to sew.
Will you teach me?
I walked over to her house and invited her over along with her mother. Her mother remarked she always likes to watch you sew on the porch. I made a little pattern of various stitches for her to learn. I laughed when her mother commented how ironic children love me despite my strictness. Children appreciate boundaries and honesty.
I made 22 gingerbug sodas today. I also made hummus, cream cheese, and caramel dip. I will bottle my second batch of kombucha on Monday. It is lovely with the essence of apple juice.
All in all a blessed day.
