#NewComicsday and it's a great day to be a comic book enthusiast! Bit of a quiet week to close out the month of May but let's honest it's been action packed. Marvel is push out the most before the end of the month with some great choices but don't miss Wolverine 50 and who doesn't like a X-Men wedding (because they always go to plan). DC is starting some new story arcs for Flash and Green Arrow while Detective offers another amazing cover. With Image putting mostly TPB's out this week don't miss the new Creature From the Black Lagoon Lives for that classic monster lover. Smurfs High Five is sponsored by All C's Collectibles who is looking to give you cash for your collectible items in need of a new home, but for now we've got five stacked high ready to fly.
Ultimate Spider-Man #5> THE SECRET HISTORY OF HARRY OSBORN! How does the heir apparent of Oscorp become a masked vigilante? And what does Green Goblin know of the true status of the world he lives in? All and more will be revealed! (S) Jonathan Hickman (A) David Messina
Smurfs Take> The hit's keep coming! No big surprise here really but the bigger question of how we got here is much more interesting. This is something I always looked forward to in the original Spidey title, the who and the how as the villains stayed hidden until the big reveal. So the big question now is, how different is it going to be?
Avengers Twilight #6> The end has come! A horrific bomb has been dropped and its fallout can't be contained! AVENGERS and DEFENDERS rise up to save the world, but death stalks them all! The senses-shattering series concludes here in an epic you have to see to believe! (S) Chip Zdarsky (A) Daniel Acuna
Smurfs Take> This have been the best thing to happen to the Avengers in the last few years. Taking all the things we think we know about the Avengers and what we would expect and spinning it. Anxious for the ending, like coming to the end of a great book that you don't want it to be over but want to see what happens to everyone. This is a must read for Avengers fans, no doubt about it.
Darth Maul- Black, White & Red #2> MAYHEM AT THE MOONBENDER COLONY! Who are THE REMAINDERS, and what threat are they to LORD PALPATINE? DARTH MAUL is sent to conquer a mining colony single-handed, but the unexpected opposition becomes an intense battle of life and death! One of STAR WARS' most famous villains learns one of his most valuable lessons! (S) Mark Russell (A) Carlos Nieto
Smurfs Take> Maul done right and not left on the cutting room floor! Really really enjoyed the first issue and have to say this is the perfect format for the character. In fact, I'm a fan of this format that Marvel has been developing with various titles, and while there have been some letdowns this one came out swinging and ready for more.
Penguin #10> GOT A LIGHT? – Part One
The fire in Gotham turns into an inferno as chaos spreads in the wake of Penguin's return. No one in the city is safe from the bird's wrath, not least his own children. How far will Penguin go to regain his crime empire? How much blood will need to spill? You ain't seen nothing yet. (S) Tom King (A) Rafeal De Latorre
Smurfs Take> Who knew my favorite Bat title of the year so far would be Penguin. Let's be honest, I've never cared for the character, always seemed like the punchline to any Batman jokes and isn't even in my top 10 of villains I want to see Batman go against, but here we are. The story so far has been good, more than good and stands out among some less than stellar fellow bat books. It has to be one of the most balanced titles on the shelf to date.
The Six Fingers #4> THE HIT MINISERIES CONTINUES!
In the penultimate issue of the series, Johannes has cracked the code written in the blood of the city, which promises to break its secrets wide open. But will it be worth the cost of all it promises to take from him?
Grippingly written by writer DAN WATTERS (HOME SICK PILOTS, Loki) with hauntingly atmospheric art and covers by SUMIT KUMAR (Man-Bat, These Savage Shores) and LEE LOUGHRIDGE (DEADLY CLASS), THE SIX FINGERS is a miniseries that will keep you on the edge until the very end.
For fans of Blade Runner, Ghost in the Shell, and Black Mirror. (S) Dan Watters (A) Sumit Kumar Lee Loughridge
Smurfs Take> Very twisty, very turny, and very good. Have been hooked on this series since issue one and ready to see it to the end with characters that are far from what I expected for this. Well worth the read!
