Over on Instagram, there are swaps and bees that take place. Right now, there is a Strawberry lover's swap. It's inspired me to make a few strawberry themed sewing projects!
I've decided to make three strawberry themed projects for myself this spring! It's been interesting to nail down what I really might want! I've been looking at mosaics (mood boards) on Instagram to see what others have made, but I hope to be creative. I love a good bag or pouch, so there might be one of those in the future. I need a few things around the house, so I'm using that list as inspiration too!
I love the little strawberry puffs in the picture above! These were pretty easy to make from scraps of pink and red, and green strips for the caps. I drew the template for them using a circle template and cutting it into 2/3's. Then I sewed up the side, stuffed it, and ran a gathering stitch around the top edge with quilting thread. I used the same thread to cinch it closed. I then made a ruffled green cap with strips of green fabric and a gathering stitch. I didn't bother making closed edges on the caps since I think they will be even cuter as the fabric frays a little! A few 5-inch fabric squares of pinks and reds, and a few strings of green fabric later, and I have a cute table decor for the summer!
I'm excited to have made these with fabric already in my collection. I think it's worth noting that there's not a need to go out and buy all new fabric when inspiration strikes. Dig a bit into the stash to see what colors and themes you may already have! This is my favorite trick when a new patriotic bundle comes out, or any fun bundle of fabric. I go through my stash by color and put together an equally beautiful stash bundle! There's no reason to buy a new bundle of fabric when the stash provides the same look and feel of the bundle in the online shopping cart. That said, I did order a little fabric, and I had some strawberry themed pieces in my stash already. I'll be using color mainly to make strawberry themed items, which I think will be super fun!
I hope you're having fun doing whatever God leads you to do! In Colossians, the Bible tells us to do all that we do "heartily" and "as unto the Lord". I hope that's how you view your sewing, baking, or housework! Let's do all for God's glory!
