My sourdough starter needed to be thrown out and restarted. My neighbor gave me some of hers. If I had elected to order it from Amazon which was the plan, however, they were sold out of my preferred brand. I would have paid 15 dollars. I am struggling to get it going because the house is cool today. I must be patient. I gave her 2 dozen eggs in exchange and a bunch of mint. Easy barter. Savings:15 dollars.
I spent the day knitting socks. We go through a bunch of socks. I had some phone calls to make and a Zoom meeting. I knitted 8 pairs of socks. Savings: 50 dollars.
I bottled another batch of kombucha. I normally pay 3 dollars a bottle. That 21 dollars a week for all of us to have 1/2 a bottle every day. It adds up quick. I can make 64 ounces of kombucha for 1.25. That is a tremendous savings. It is another activity that takes minutes to prep.
I batched up two quarts of yogurt and 24 one-serving containers. It takes 5 minutes to whip up. Savings: 22.00 We eat a lot of yogurt in this house
I made blueberry and coconut milk pops. A box of similar pops is 4 for 5.77. I made 12 for 1.75.
The bottle of kombucha is lovely. It tastes like a crisp apple juice. The yogurt had already been dug into by the kids.
Many people believe that you have to make large changes to make frugal changes, it is the little things that add up. Finding your why and how will make budgeting easier and more meaningful.
