Todays daily response question is "what are you good at"? This is a question that you may get asked when applying for a job, talking to a friend, counselor or employer. It is also a question that we should be asking ourselves from time to time. As we get older and live life longer we gain experience and somewhat of an expertise in some areas of life. I pondered this question a bit and have come up with these answers as to what I think I am good at. These are honest assessments and self opinion that some may or may agree with. Some may feel like I am better at things I am not mentioning. https://sylphine.shop/cuddle-my-human-pet-bandana-unique-dog-bandana-print-pet-scarf/ As a career teacher and coach, I have been chasing goals, dreams and titles for over 25 years in sports. Some of those goals I have attained because I got pretty good at doing that certain thing as I grew my skills and goals. Some I yet to attain and may never get to accomplish. That does not mean that I am not good at it or failed. It just means that I did not reach the end result I may have wanted. Below is my list of things I think I am pretty good at. - Husband- I have been married for 31 years to my beautiful wife. We have seen it all and I took the vows we made to honor, love, and cherish one another to heart. I think I have learned to be a good husband through the good and the bad along the way. I think what makes a good husband is being willing to be a partner in the marriage and upholding the commitment you made to your life long partner.
- Father- I am the proud father of two wonderful grown girls. They will be 28 and 30 in July and I think I have always been there for them. To be a father is more than making a baby. It is being present and active in the lives of your children. It is being that rock they can lean on when times are tough. A good father teaches their children to honor their parents, grandparents, community and country. A good father sets an example of family, faith and friends as lives #1 goals.
- Coaching- I have been coaching for over 30 years. I have won a lot of football games, wrestling matches and softball games along the way. I was inspired to be a coach by some of my life long hero's and mentors. I wanted to give back to the community, schools and student athletes like I was given. Coaching involves sharing, caring, supporting and at times being the bad guy. It is a thankless job with lousy pay checks. Coaching is one of my best strengths and has gotten myself and my kids state titles, conference titles, coach of year awards, etc. But it is not about the accolades to me. It is about getting darn good at doing it and giving to those what I was given along the way.
- Teaching- I am a veteran teacher that has been in the game a long time. Over the years with all the classroom time, training, support and self engagement and motivation. I have been able to become pretty good at teaching. Am I the best teacher or the year or award winning? Well, actually yes, but that is not the point. Those things are few and far between. What is important in teaching is sharing, caring and taking responsibility for your students, their behaviors and grades. Holding yourself and them accountable for attendance, grades and behavior. Doing that makes you a good teacher and will allow you to grow and stay with it.
- Friend- I feel like I am very good at being a friend. I try to be supportive, engaged and caring of those around me. We can all be good at friendship if we are willing to give of our own time, energy, patience and love. Being a friend is one of life's most obvious things God has asked us to be. It is a hug, hand shake, pat on the back or just listening. It is valuable and cannot be replaced.
- Faithfull- I believe that being a person of faith is good. I think I am pretty good at being faithful in my God. I have room to improve for sure and seek his guidance to do so, Being a faithful person, teacher, coach, husband, father, brother, son, daughter, neighbor and co-worker is good. It builds foundations of success that we can cherish for life and builds dreams and helps us accomplish our goals.
In closing I call upon the world to be your best "good" at relationships, jobs, careers, family, faith, friendships, community and America. Be good and good things will happen for you. Be good at whatever you desire and it will desire you back. Be good at chasing your dreams and they may chase you back. Be good at being the better person. Be good at being strong of mind, body and soul. Just be Good!
