Saturday morning finds us in Rosenberg at the 2024 Texas State Roundup Indoor Rifle Match. The Austin County 4-H Rifle Team from Sealy is participating. Jake is on the younger end of the Senior Group, but they are going all out and have named their team composed of Skye, Jake, Brady and Nadalli as, "The Bold Bob Rosses." They even designed T-shirts to promote awareness of their group. Of course, there is a remarkable similarity between Bob Rosses' hair and young Jake's hair.
Jake needed to be in Rosenberg this morning by 7:00 a.m. He wasn't scheduled to shoot until 8:00 a.m. Consequently, the General, Jenna (sister) and I didn't leave Cat Spring until 7:00 a.m. It is a 45-minute drive. Last night, Jenna asked: "Granddad, do you mind if I drive?" How could I say "No?"
Of course, the first stop with Jenna behind the wheel was at SixBucks – Oops, I meant to write Starbucks. Jenna had to have Venti Iced Coffee with brown sugar syrup and white chocolate sauce with a splash of almond milk. Are you kidding me? I've never ordered anything with a splash of anything. What exactly does that mean?
Jenna, pre-purchased the drink using the Starbucks app on her phone, so I have no idea what it cost. However, I had the thought, if she's ordering a mixed drink, I'm glad it's coffee.
Andrea introduced me to Starbucks during her freshman year at the University of
Texas. That was over two decades ago. Her drink of choice was a Hot Chai Tea Latte. I had one as well. It was a first for me.
I remembered thinking, if Andrea has been paying $4 for a drink, I'm glad it is Chai Tea. At the time, Andrea was driving our hand-me-down Honda. It seemed out of place with the BMWs parked outside the building. I thought she was way outsider her element.
Did I mention that Hot Chai Tea Latte from Starbucks is extremely addictive? That was over twenty years ago, and during cold weather, I am often drawn to the drink the way a hummingbird is drawn to nectar. Do I dare try a Venti Iced Coffee with brown sugar syrup and white chocolate sauce with a splash of almond milk? I may eventually try it, but I'd have to write it down first. I can't remember all of that.
All My Best!
Don
