A sweet friend encouraged me over a year ago to begin the Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt with her. Mine wound up being patriotic themed, and hers are lovely bright batiks. We both made it to somewhere in the 20's, and then got distracted by life!
I went back this week to see if I could pick up where I left off with the blocks. I had marked the last one I made, number 27, so I could pick back up at number 28 easily. I organized my templates in an envelope system, ten to an envelope, that is housed in a small planner folder. It was easy to find my templates for the next block, and I cut and made number 28, Duck and Ducklings, this past week!
My storage system for unfinished projects helps tremendously with these sorts of restarts. I have a rainbow cart from Michael's that holds one work in progress for each drawer, plus a few drawers for my office supplies. All that's needed when I finish making a Farmer's Wife block is to tuck the book, the finished blocks, and my template folder back into the drawer. It'll be there when I want to make another block!
I'm wishing you good organization systems and fun quilting projects this summer! Happy Sewing!
