This week has been a doozy at the Quiltiferous household! We've needed to tighten our belt a little to make way for changes coming and add some padding to the emergency fund. That means a few categories that we're not spending money on in the next while. We have some savings goals that we want to meet for said emergency fund, and we're willing to make hard choices to meet the goal.
So, when we talk about being frugal, one of the things that comes to mind is using what we already have. If a need crosses our path, we look around for something that can meet the need. If dinnertime meals are needed, I look in my pantry to see what is already available. I make a large portion of our meals from the deep pantry if money is tight. This is one of the many advantages of keeping a well-stocked pantry.
Other times we may search for what we already have include fixing broken things. We may look in our garage for items that can work to fix a certain problem. We keep a good stock of parts and tools in order to be able to fix things that break. We mend clothing or linens that need it as well!
We need some form of entertainment every so often, and for that we often look to things we already own. We own movies to watch, plenty of good books to read, a plethora of fabric, and a sewing machine or two. Coupled with daily and weekly work tasks, this keeps us pretty busy! If we're not doing one of these things, we're often creating or working on something "on the side" for income purposes.
If we take time to look around us, we'll definitely get a sense of gratitude for what we are already blessed with! Often God meets the need before we even know we will need something. I'm always on the lookout for ways to thank God for what He's given!
I pray you have what is needed even before you know you need it! I pray that you see God working in your life to give you what's needed as you rely on Him!
