This weekend, I spent time preparing for a sew day for veterans with my guild!

I'm looking forward to the sew day! I've cut all the background fabric for four different quilts. I'll be teaching four new blocks of various difficulty levels to our guild members. Once the blocks are learned, the guild members can choose which quilt they want to make as a group or in small groups. I've prepared patterns for the guild members to take home with them as well. I find it rather fun to make patterns and teach quilting!
Needless to say, I feel as though I'm taking my entire quilting set up! I didn't know it, but I needed quilting/sewing luggage, so last week I ordered a bag that will fit on my sewing machine suitcase handle. I'll be taking the new (old) Featherweight machine for a trial run, and plan to have other things to do if it happens to malfunction during sew day. The '46 sits nicely in my sewing machine case with room to spare for the quilting project and supplies. I think I have the luggage planned to make only three trips from car to the library room where we meet!
The block above is a granny square block, and measures about 8 1/2 inches square. I love the way it looks on point but really isn't. It's a straight set quilt, but the blocks look like diamonds!
I'm excited to share what I've prepared with my guild today! I promise to take a few pictures of finished blocks to share with you all. My guild members don't often like to have their pictures taken, and neither do I, so we'll focus on taking pictures of the blocks they create. Hopefully they will result in a few quilt tops for our deserving veterans!
I pray that you're having a wonderful morning so far, and that you see the Joy of the Lord in all the things around you! Happy Sewing!
Stacy
