Going on a week of no food, or NPO as they label it at the hospital. What the heck does that even stand for. No Point in Offering? I'm sure it's something official but when it's held by magnet to your door it feels like it's a keep your distance warning. It should say watch for hangry low energy miserable people. Because truly ice cubes do not cut it.
Having been guests at the local hospital for a week now, I'm beginning to worry we accidentally checked into Hotel California. What started at rehydration has morphed into gastric bypass… and not the kind to help with weight. More along the lines of "oh you aren't getting any nutrition" and "your stomach isn't passing food".
Like how the fresh heckles does the fact that a persons stomach is not passing food not get noticed! Especially after X-rays and CT scans etc for months. Suffering from immobilizing back pain and stomach nausea is just par for the course? If so, this course sucks rotten eggs and I would like our money back.
After getting the green light to begin clear liquids yesterday- sidebar, do you know how few clear liquids there are and how satisfying and filling they are NOT! But I digress. Clear liquids it is. Only to be told this morning there was a snatch and grab of vanilla pudding from the nourishment center. I'm sworn to secrecy… so therefore so are you fair reader (sounding just like Lady Whistledown there). I imagine a Mission Impossible type of extraction complete with iv cart and open hospital gown.
So we wait to hear for when we can spring him from this joint. With hopes for it to be very soon lest door dash starts making room deliveries.
In the maylay of missed celebrations and goodnight hugs I am reminded of the strength of family and the love we share and that helps keep our sanity.
