#NewComicsday and it's a great day to be a comic book enthusiast! A smaller week from everyone involved as DC brings in Cheetah along with the rest of the Wonder girls and Nightwing continues to fall. Marvel is letting up on all of the Vampire glory but has a Doctor Strange you might not want to miss, and Thor is just amazing. Image gives us the smash hit Redcoat and whatever nonsense encounter and a new Misery. Smurfs High Five is sponsored by All C's Collectibles who has limited tables available for their Fall Expo, don't wait and miss out on an epic event. For now, we've got five stacked high ready to fly.
Destro #1> MINISERIES PREMIERE
THE NEXT CHAPTER OF THE COBRA THREAT BEGINS HERE.?
James McCullen Destro XXIV is the man behind M.A.R.S. Industries, the undisputed leader in providing high-tech weapons to world powers…for the right price.
But the emergence of Energon has changed everything.
As Destro's ambitions grow, the "Crimson Twins" Tomax and Xamot Paoli emerge to destroy their competition, and Cobra Commander realizes his current ally could be his future greatest enemy.
Acclaimed writer DAN WATTERS (UNIVERSAL MONSTERS: CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON LIVES!, Loki) and artist ANDREI BRESSAN (DARK RIDE, BIRTHRIGHT) change the balance of power in the Energon Universe forever. (S) Dan Watters (A) Andrei Bressan, Adriano Lucas
Smurfs Take> So anxious for this title and can't wait to dive into this story. I have no idea what we are going to see, what history will we get? How much are they going to explain or expand on? It's been a nonstop ride in the Energon Universe, and they are about to focus on the character I think got neglected the most as time went on in the original series. Buckle up buttercup!
Ultimate Spider-Man #6> THE SHOCKING CONCLUSION OF THE ULTIMATE OPENING ARC! Spider-Man must finally confront the head honcho himself: Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin! Kingpin, as owner and operator of the Daily Bugle, has been working with the Maker's Council to control the spread of information in their favor… Which means he's the first domino that must be toppled to end their regime! PLUS: Mary Jane holds her own. 'Nuff said! (S) Jonathan Hickman (A) Marco Checchetto
Smurfs Take> Classic face-off! This has been a fantastic series to this point and have no doubt that it will finish strong. By far the best Ultimate's title on the shelf so far and Hickman has out done himself with this opening arc.
Batman #149> A GOOD SANCASY – Part One
When confronted with the totality of your life, and all the choices that led you to where you are, do you build on the ashes, or rise from them? The Batman who is left standing will have to answer this question quickly, as someone is already sifting through those ashes, with an eye toward saving the world! (S) Chip Zdarsky (A) Michele Bandini
Smurfs Take> I'm waiting for Batman to be Batman again. There, I said it so you didn't have to, and this looks like to road to that destination. Coming out of the last story lifted my hopes a little and ended up not being the wreck I thought it was going to be. That perhaps we might get a few solid stories from this title again and I like what I've seen so far leading into this. Fingers crossed.
Uncle Scrooge and the Infinity Dime #1> FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, MARVEL AND DISNEY TEAM-UP TO BRING YOU THE STORY OF THE ¢ENTURY! It's the story you never expected! One of the greatest characters in the history of comics leaps into his most epic adventure yet, in the manner only MARVEL can deliver! When UNCLE SCROOGE'S fabled money bin gets stolen by a shocking culprit, the world's toughest duck must undertake a quest unlike any other, alongside a surprising array of allies: other versions of himself! An oversized special, from Marvel mainstay writer JASON AARON (THOR, AVENGERS) and a cadre of celebrated Scrooge artists! Also re-presenting the classic CHRISTMAS ON BEAR MOUNTAIN, the first appearance of Scrooge McDuck by the legendary DISNEY COMICS creator, CARL BARKS! (S) Jason Aaron (A) Various
Smurfs Take> Yes, I'm aware this is a Disney book. Yes, I understand the confusion, but this looks like such a fun read I couldn't resist. All of the different covers aside, I've always liked the Scrooge character and this great take on the character fits so well and feeds that inner 8-year-old who has been waiting for this.
Amazing Spider-Man #52> Nothing is okay. This issue is so shocking and troubling we can't even show you the cover!. (S) Zeb Wells (A) Ed Mcguinness
Smurfs Take> The last few issues have been amazing and has all the right feels of classic Spidey with a new twist. At long last we have focused back on Peter and the villains that made him the hero he is. Zeb has captured the heart and soul of this title and taken it to a new level with the great twits and expanding on characters we thought we knew.
DC Direct Cover Girls Wonder Woman by Campbell Statue> From TMP/McFarlane's Toys. One of the most iconic and premier cover artists continues their run, on the DC Cover Girls Statue line with a remarkable second statue featuring the Princess of Themyscira. Wonder Woman, designed by J. Scott Campbell in 1:8th scale, fully captures the Justice League heroine in her 90's inspired costume. Striking a powerful pose, Wonder Woman can be seen effortlessly deflecting a bullet with her gauntlets while holding the Lasso of Truth. The statue comes featured on a base with the Wonder Woman logo. Highly detailed polyresin statue stands approximately 10" tall (including base).
Smurfs Take> This looks amazing and I'm such a fan of all the Campbell statues already and excited to see DC go back to the Cover Girls line. The Adam Hugh's line was so well done and thought out with the characters they had, but this might quickly replace that as my favorite.
